La Rumbla

Arrowtown in South Otago, is famous for its deciduous trees and the incredible hues in Autumn. Drawing inspiration from these trees, the leaf silhouette designs were laser cut into the plywood panels. Backlighting the panels creates a strong design feature along the front of the bar. Hidden imagery was also included in the negative space of the patterns, which reflect some of the hunting and fishing pastimes that are popular to the area. These hidden animals became especially popular with children who visit the restaurant.

He turned our concept up to eleven.

“When we built our first restaurant in 2012 my wife and I wanted to incorporate a light feature in the bar area. We approached Luke and gave him a few conceptual ideas. The design of Luke’s has been a massive part of our overall atmosphere. Having unique art work that is both practical and asthetic is something I’m very proud to have in my dining room”.
